Egypt Christmas Holiday '16
After a couple of months of failed business ideas, being unemployed and far away from where i wanted to be, my mother gave me a pleasant surprise. She called me one day at home and said "Haddy come to my office now." Having absolutely nothing to do i went to her office where she got into the uber and instructed the driver to take us to Sarit Centre. Arriving the apple store, my mum asked me to choose whatever phone i wanted in whatever color. I obviously chose the iPhone 7 as it was just released. Being incredibly happy from being saved from using an iPhone 5 that was ALWAYS connected to the power, my mum topped it up with, "we will be going to Egypt for christmas holiday."
At first, i thought Egypt? Plane crash? Bomb? these were all recent incidents that happened in that country, i was scared at first. At this point in my life, i needed a break. It did not matter to where or what, I just needed excitement and something to keep me busy and stop overthinking through my post graduation depression. I was ready to explore.
We spent two days in Cairo where we visited the famous wonder of the world, The Pyramids of Giza on the day of arrival. We went shopping at the Mall of Arabia, visited Kankalili Market which took an entire day, had dinner on The Pharaoh, a nile sail boat and the next day we journeyed back to the airport to go to Sharm El Sheikh.
During this holiday i went parasailing and scuba diving in the red sea and Ras Muhammad Marine Park which is also a global bucket list to check. The best part of it all was that even my mother joined the adventures which made me happy to see her experience such excitement.
The hotel, Baron Resort was spectacular! my goodness, just arriving there was a breathe of fresh air. I am a sucker for the finest hotels and restaurants and this hotel was top notch. Everything from look, ambiance, staff, food was incredible. Since we stayed for 2 weeks it became home. I was fond of the place and had an attachment which made it very hard to leave apart from the fact that i was going back to my boring, jobless, normal life.
This trip undoubtedly is one of my favorite holidays ever, despite the super cold weather which made it hard to enjoy the beach, Egypt is definitely a place i would recommend for anyone to visit. Infact, i would even visit again if possible, it is such an affordable place to stay with some of the most friendly people in the world. I hope you consider it! let me know if you have already been there or ever thought of going.
