Seychelles Baecation!

Seychelles Baecation!

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT! ONE WHOLE YEAR DATING THE SAME PERSON!!!!! lol

I have never passed the 3 month mark, haha. Is it because this is a long-distance relationship or is it because it was just a completely different choice from my usual? hmmm who knows.

Anyways, March 2016 i was in Sweden for holiday when i met my boyfriend. We kicked off pretty nicely, he was very active and adventurous. I liked that because i had been going to Sweden for the past ten years to visit my family but never had the chance or company to explore. I began to see the sides of the country that made me fall in love beyond holiday. I felt i needed to live in this country for a little bit. It had so much more adventures to offer me. I always fall in love with the person that teaches me, makes me a better person and prioritizes me. All this he was doing at this moment.

44 days later to May 7th, my last day of vacation, my boyfriend gave me a ring. At that point, i did not take it seriously but we were having so much fun together, i took the ring (this ring is still up on debate for its purpose lol) I believed there was much more to discover together. I left for 3 months and went back in August 2016. I had 30 days left of my multi entry visa but since i had applied for both language school and a job, there was no plan of going back and finally having a real relationship. Unfortunately, shit did not turn out the way we wanted and i had to come back home. A FUCKING DAY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY! This was so painful as i knew it would be the worst birthday having to celebrate it on my own. The relationship obviously started being tested by the distance. It became so hard that i had to say one day "babe book the next flight to Kenya or i am giving up on this". To my surprise he came and we had an incredible mini reunion in November.

In December i had to go to Egypt with my mother so we could not vacation together. Forward 5 months later, obviously both of us have started being distant. It was our one year anniversary but i had just started an incredible job i could not travel. In May, which was our 1 year "ring" anniversary, my boyfriend decided to treat me to a vacation wherever i wanted.

Knowing that i had only earned 4 days of leave, i decided to choose a visa-free, short flight holiday. HAHA obviously i thought of INSTAGRAM! Where could i go that i can have the nicest instagram pictures lol (everyone does this, just admit it). Anyways i chose Seychelles because it has one of the worlds top beaches, picturesque and not so common.

I chose where to stay, I chose Eden Luxury Apartments on Eden Island which is a man made island on Mahe. This place was incredibly beautiful. We had our own buggy to drive around the island, a club, multiple restaurants, a marine yacht jetty and many nice stores. I was surprised my boyfriend let me choose, but he always lets me choose where to stay. We have traveled to Paris, he has come to Kenya which we also stayed in a hotel and now Seychelles. Aww well, a happy wife is a happy life.

During this 1 week baecation, we stayed 3 nights in Mahe, 1 night in La Digue Island and 1 night in Praslin Island. We rented a car while in Mahe where we drove all around the island, stopped for a quick visit at the Takamaka rum refinery and many other exciting beaches.  We tried authentic creole food at a famous restaurant called Marie Antoinette. THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE! my goodness! heavenly! We took the coco inter island ferry to La Digue. This was the worst experience of my life. I am boat sick and this ferry was sooooooo rough on the waves. The entire ferry was puking and i was left with the worst stomach ache that took the entire day, ruining most of my time in La Digue. We stayed in a nice tree house called Kaz Guesthouse and managed to visit the worlds most beautiful beach, Anse Source D'argent. La Digue is such a small island we managed to bike around the entire island.

Praslin was my time, i made sure it was saved for the ending of the trip. The plan was to do all the luxurious pampering i could convince this man to do, he is very local and adventurous but i was tired of eating local creole cuisine. We visited all the nice private beaches for bae to snorkel and at night my boyfriend treated me to a beautiful romantic dinner at the Constance Lemuria hotel buffet at the legend restaurant. My gosh this made my night, i felt so sophisticated. I was not allowed to use my phone so there are no picture evidence but it was a great way to end the trip as it was our last night there together.

Going back to Mahe to connect to our flights i refused to enter the ferry again. There was no way i was going to go through that pain and then connect to another 3 hour flight to join Nairobi traffic. I insisted we take the flight which was only 20 mins instead of an hour and a half on a boat. Surprisingly, flying from Praslin Island to Mahe Island was way cheaper than the boat. I wish i knew this from the beginning. ha!

Anyways overall, Seychelles is a very beautiful place and it is nice that i can say i have been there and with the person i love. However we went at a very very hot and rainy season and the country is super duper expensive. This is a warning that you best be fully loaded cash wise before attempting to visit, i am definitely not going to revisit. sorry Seychelles.
